Tahoe Canaan Dogs
Socializing Your Puppy--The main thing I stress with prospective puppy buyers is socialization. Canaan dogs (CDs) can be aloof with strangers and early frequent socialization is imperative to having a happy well adjusted member of the family. A puppy socialization class should be taken by 3-4 months of age. Take them everywhere with you: to the pet store, dog park, hikes, walks in the neighborhood, etc. Invite lots of visitors over to meet the puppy. If socalization is not done (if you wait after 5 months of age it may be too late) you may have a dog that is terrified to go for a walk if it sees a stranger or who will hide in the corner when strangers visit. Do you have the time and commitment to socialize a canaan puppy?

Adult obedience classes--Once you have completed puppy class enrolling in obedience classes will help your Canaan to learn what is expected and become a more well behaved member of the family. Earning a AKC Canine Good Citizen title is highly recomended. "Started in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community."
