- September 8, 2007--Okay I haven't updated my site in 2 weeks, but I have a real good excuse. My Mac wouldn't turn on. Thinking that ie might cost a couple of hundred to get if fixed (or I might have to buy a new one) I was a bit worried. Another Mac devotee suggested I take it to the Apple Store. Well, I can see why Apple calls it the "Genius Bar." The tech just held down a couple of keys while he turned on the computer (resetting the power) and it started just fine. After spending 20 minutes on it, he said nothing else was wrong. I asked how much did I owe and he said "Oh we don't charge for the Genius Bar." I LOVE MAC. I have decided I need a battery back-up surge as we have many power surges here in the hi-desert.
- The pups are doing great. They are enjoying eating solid food, not so sure about going outside and definitely don't like the grooming table. So we will have to work on that some more. They have had a few visitors to help hold and cuddle and they definitely like that. So if you're in the area they could always use some more cuddling. See new individual puppy pictures here and new litter puppy pictures here.
- August 26, 2007--The Puppies are now 18 days old. Eyes are open and they are becoming more active. I have just noticed them figuring out that biting each other is fun. They are now walking on wobbly legs mostly so they can get to mama Roxy before the others. See new puppy pictures here.
- August 9, 2007--Roxy had all five puppies last night Aug 8 very quickly between 8 pm and 9 pm. There are 3 boys and 2 girls. One boy and one girl are a very pale color, which I believe will be white with light brown patches. The other 2 boys and one girl are white with black patches. There names are Hagrid, Draco, Sirius, Hermione and Luna.
Web site should be updated weekly. Click here for puppy pictures.
- July 6, 2007--The vet has counted 6 puppies on the ultasound. He has been right in the count the last 2 pregnancies but we’ll have to see since they are so tiny. There could be a one to two pup difference. They are at 31 days gestation, only 32 days left. They are due about August 7, 2007.
- June 21, 2007--Roxy has just returned from Vermont having been bred to Harry. Puppies should be due about August 7, 2007. An Ultrasound to determine pregnancy will be done about July 5 or 6. Check back for updates. If you would like to be considered for a puppy, please contact me ASAP as I am forming my waiting list now.
- May 30, 2007--Roxy is will be bred to Harry, Ch Rosendog's He Who Must Be Named within the next 2 weeks.

Please send an email if you would like to be considered for one of Roxy's puppies. See Interested in a Canaan Puppy? section for more information on the type of infomation I'd like to get from you.

- December 10, 2006--Well it been a long time since I've update my site, but I have a partial excuse. My external hard drive where I stored all my web files crashed so I'm having to do some rebuilding as I pull each page off my web hosts server. So if pictures are missing and the links don't link please be patient as I'm rebuilding the site or send me an email.
- I hope to breed Roxy to Farsight Nathan about February 2007. If the pregnancy takes puppies would be available at 9 to 10 weeks, about June 2007. Check back later for updates.

- November 27, 2005Willow is available for a loving home. Now 12 weeks old, she was born on Sept. 5, 2005. She is a sweet loving girl and loves playing wth her littermates and mother, Roxy and Cousin Astra, as well as playing in the kiddie pool. Willow is timid in some situations so she needs a patient owner who will spend lots of time socializing her. I have been taking her to PetCo for socializing and she will be enrolled in a puppy socialization class starting Nov 30. She has accepted hot dogs from strangers and this is very good sign she is getting more comfortable in new situations.

- November 4, 2005In the last few days the puppies have discovered the kiddie pool. Check out the darling pictures of the puppies playing in the water. Now water play is not common in Canaan Dogs, but I guess it is a heritable trait as Roxy and her father love water.

Well their eyes are all open now and they're working on learning to walk and have discovered that chewing on their siblings is fun. And some of them have discovered how to bark. Noelle and I were surprised when they were about 2 weeks old when one of them barked as it was startled after being picked up.

Click her for Harry's new page (and several new pictures) on this web site. Harry is the son of our Jordy (Ch Mad River Tahoe Zephyr).
- April 9, 2005Well Sam is on his way to a wonderful new home in Victoria, Canada. I'm going to miss him! I took some really cute pictures of Sam and our cat, Callie. Our dogs are very good with the Callie unless she runs, then they want to chase, of cource what do you expect from a herding dog. Callie likes to sit on Noelle's chair and if the dogs get to close she bats or bites them. Sam just thought she wanted to play.
- March 26, 2005I have arranged to breed Roxy to CH Renegade's Mojo Risin, CDCA HC (White with brown patches), owned by Renee and Evan Kent of Rhode Island in her next heat, which should be sometime in May. Since Roxy carries the red/brown gene we should have a combination of white with black and white with red/brown patched puppies See more info on the Litters Page.
- Took more pictures of Sam during our lunchtime walk along the Santa Ana River. The river is running very fast and full due to the 36+ inches of rain we've had in Southern California. This is so far our second highest rainfall year in Southern California History.
- March 16, 2005Well, I took Astra to the Vet today for an ultrasound to determine pregnancy, no puppies were found. So we plan on trying the breeding again in about 5 months.
- I took Sam with me for a health check and not only did he get a good report he was very well behaved with all the strange dogs he just stood right next to me, watched all the people and dogs and even wanted the person next to me to pet him.
- Posted new pictures of Sam.
- February 21, 2005Sam is doing well in adapting to our home. He is very loving and gives lots of kisses. He likes to play with his 2nd Cousin Astra, but she snaps at him if he tries to mount her. He is neutered. It's just a dominance thing and he is just playing. I've been continuing with his training and taking him for walks and to PetsMart for socialization daily. Sam needs a new home as soon as possible.
- Added pictures of Nathan, the father of our litter due April 8, 2005 and pics of Strider.
- Added a sample of our Puppy Contract for our April 2005 Litter.
- February 12, 2005--8-Month-old Sam (Tahoe Samwise Gamgee) is in need of a new home!
His first owner is heart sick to give him up, but due to the owners serious illness he feels that Sam would be better off in a new home. Sam is a loving, happy, energetic, beautiful long coated male Canaan dog with a dominant personality. Sam needs an active and firm owner, who won't let Sam be boss. Sam has not been socialized so the new owner will need to spend lots of time taking him everywhere and meeting lots of people. Sam is neutered and current on his vaccinations. Send a email, with info on your home and family if you are interested in adopting Sam.
February 5, 2005I've changed my name to my maiden name. My new name is Robin Prince.
- I'll be out of town February 7 through Feb. 14, and may not be able to access email.
- Puppies due April 8, 2005. Breeding took place February 4, 2005. Ultrasound will be done early March to determine pregnancy. Astra was breed to Farsight Nathan. Nathan is owned by Carrie and Ken Cabrera, Vail AZ. Nathan is solid black with white trim as is Astra, but both carry the patched gene so a few of the pups may be white with black patches, with the majority of the pups solid black with white trim. Red/brown pups are a slight possibility. Click here for pedigree. See pictures of our Astra's August 2003 litter.
- Waiting ListIf you're interested in buying one of our puppies send an email describing your home and family, house and yard, what type of activities you'll do with your dog, show or pet prospect, what you have learned about Canaan Dogs, and why you think a Canaan puppy would make a good addition to your home. Follow the links section to learn more about Canaan Dogs. Visitors are welcome, as it is best to learn all you can about Canaan Dogs before you make a average 14.5 year commitment. Read about what is involved in socializing a Canaan Dog puppy. Read my sample Puppy Contract. Adobe Acrobat Reader required. Click here for free download.
- We need to meet or talk on the phone (if you're out of the area) before you'll offically be placed on the waiting list. Not only do I want to make sure you have learned all you can about Canaan's, I also want to learn about you so I have the right information to help pick the right puppy for you. Most prospective buyers who contact me are interested in a pet/companion, but since I went to the expense of importing two Canaan females from England, I will give preference to show/breeding homes.
- Deposits: Will not be accepted until the puppies are on the ground and I feel there will be a puppy suitable for your home. A $200 deposit is required to hold a puppy for you. Deposit are not refundable if you change your mind, but if I determine that there is not a suitable puppy then a refund will be given.
- Roxy earned her first qualifying score in Novice B Obedience at the Orange Empire Dog Club dog show in San Bernardino, CA on January 29, 2005 with a score of 173. - December 5, 2004--Well after suffering through major problems with my old computer and the frustration of not being able to update my web site with information on the Canaan Dog Club of America Dog National Speciality Dog show on October 21, I finally received my New Power Mac G5 on December 2, 2004. It is so FAST and it doesn't lock up. So I have no more excuses for not updating my web site.
- Noelle and I had a great time at the CDCA Speciality. Jordy and Roxy did very well as did Ella and Peter. Ella is from our 2003 litter and Peter was sired by Jordy. Click her for info on the Speciality. Click here to go directly to show pictures.
- Congratulation to Amanda Pough and Judy March Rosenthal on Peter's completed Championship at the Middleburg Kennel Club show in Leesburg, Virginia on October 22, 2005. - October 3, 2004--Added pictures of Della, from the Jordy (Ch Mad River Tahoe Zephyr) x Farsight Maccabee Bat Onyx litter born Aug. 2, 2004.
- Added a picture of Strider, Aug. 2003 litter.
September 26, 2004--Took lots of pictures of Astra today. Astra has been acting odd the last 2 weeks as she thinks she has babies!! Normal gestation is about 2 months and since Astra was in heat in July (she was not breed) she now thinks that she has babies to take care of. This illusion is called a false pregnancy and from what I hear some female dogs think they have babies every 6 months or so. This is Astra's second false pregnancy. So I took pictures of Astra carrying around her baby (AKA fleece ball). Canaans don't usually like to play fetch, but Astra likes to bring me her 'baby' and when I throw it, she gets it and brings it back to me. She even would even jump over the jump to go get it and then she had to go play in the pool with it. When she tried to remove the ball from the pool she found it was a bit heavy and kept dropping it.
- Added pictures of Fenris (vise Osiris), Sabo (vise Aries), and Mitzvah (vise Athena) from their new owners, and a cute picture of a wet Sam (vise Apollo) before he left.
- August 29, 2004--ALL PUPPIES ARE PLACED!!
- Well last weekend was a busy time here in Redlands. All four boys went to their new homes. Athena is sold but we're keeping her until her new owners return from vacation. I think she is happy that the boys are gone. No one to beat her up! She plays mostly with me and Roxy and trys to get Astra and Jordy (He just ignores her, as he hates puppies) to play with her.
- Here is a list of new Owners. Congrats to all new owners and we wish you many hours (and years) of love from your new family member!!!
- Osiris (Now Fenris)--Sara, Pat, and Chris Pullman, Fullerton, CA.
- Aries (Now Sabo)--Matt Coggan, Seattle, WA
- Anubis (Name??)--Ed Sidenstricter, Las Vegas, NV
- Apollo (Samwise Gamgee)--Norm Rubenstein, Surpise, AZ
- Athena (Name??)--Cathy & Cedric Sarkin, El Segundo, CA (With us for a couple of weeks)
- Added pictures of Athena and Fenris with his new family. Roxy and Athena were so cute playing together this weekend. Roxy has taught Athena how to play in the kiddie pool. And or course they had to play in it after I cleaned it out and put fresh water in it. What good is a pool to play in if the water is clean!!
August 10, 2004--

- Still looking for a home for Athena. If you think you can make a good home for Athena read the entry for Aug 2.
August 4, 2004--Added a few more pictures of Apollo and Osiris.
- Congratulations to Carrie and Ken Cabrera of Tucson Arizona. Farsight Maccabee bat Onyx gave birth to 4 girls on August 2. Two are black w/ white trim and 2 white w/ black markings. Jordy (Ch. Mad River Tahoe Zephyr) is the dad. This is the 6th litter sired by Jordy.
August 2, 2004--The puppies are now 5 weeks, 5 days old. Noelle and I took pictures of the litter outside today and it was quite a challenge to keep some of them from trying to jump off the table. Added new individual pictures of the puppies.
- Pet Quality Female Puppy Available-- Athena has developed a cosmetic fault that disqualifies her from showing so I will not keep her. Her hair is too long (called a rough coat). The rough coat is much softer that the smooth coat, but shedding is the same. The AKC standard for Canaan says that the coat should be from .5 to 1.5 inches. She is a beautiful girl and her coat will look a little like a border collie's as an adult. See pictures of Athena's rough-coated adult half-brother Zorro.
If you are interested in Athena please send an email answering the questions under the Waiting List info.
- July 25, 2004--The puppies are now 4 weeks, 5 days old and getting much more active. I have received deposits on all 4 boys. I haven't decided if I will keep the girl (Athena) or not. I will decide by Aug 17 at 8 weeks old. Added new individual and litter pictures of the puppies. Added a page for Pleasant Hill Tahoe Mist, CD our first Canaan Dog as well as our first litter (Ch Mad River Tahoe Zephyr, CGC x Pleasant Hill Tahoe Mist).
- If your interested in being on the waiting list for Athena click here.
- Congratulations to Judy and Amanda of Vermont. as their dog earned his AKC Championship this weekend - in Rhode Island on Saturday. Harry (aka Rosendog's He Who Must Be Named), bred and owned by Judy Rosenthal and Amanda Pough earned his 2nd major to complete his championship. Harry is the second Champion sired by CH Mad River Tahoe Zephyr (Jordy), dam is Judy's CH Pleasant Hill Hinda M Rosendog CD.
-
- July 18, 2004--The puppies are now 3 weeks and 5 days old and doing great. I took individual pictures on the grooming table. They didn't know quite what to make of the standing on a table. Yesterday they had their first solid food, a thin mix of "Second Step," most seam to be getting the hang of it.
July 12, 2004--Added picture of Osiris.
July 11, 2004--Roxy's puppies are now 19 days old. Their eyes opened a couple of days ago and they are more active. They are starting to play with each other and are walking pretty well. They all perk up and some even bark when I say "puppy puppy." They get excited and come over for me to pet them. I pick them all up each day and cuddle them and they usually go to sleep in my arms. I've added more group pictures. Since my daughter, Noelle is visiting friends in Tahoe it is difficult to take individual pictures. There are individual pics of Athena and Anubis.
July 5, 2004--Roxy's puppies are now 2 weeks old. They are fat and healthy, weighing from 33.1 oz to 34.8 oz. Their eyes haven't opened yet, but they should be very soon. The puppies are trying to walk when Roxy enters the whelping box, but they fall down a lot. I have added pictures of the hole litter.
- I still have puppies available to good homes, contact me either via email or phone if you think you can make a good home for one of these beautiful babies. Two of the males are available. I may keep the female, but will not decide until she is 8 weeks old. So if you'll interested in Athena, I can put you on the waiting list. Puppies will be available for new homes after August 19, 2004.
If you wish to be considered for one of Roxy's puppies include in your email--a description of your home and family, house and yard, what kind or activities you will do with your dog, what you have learned about Canaan Dogs, why you think a Canaan puppy would make a good addition to your home, and anything else you might think important. Follow the links section to learn more about Canaan Dogs. Visitors are welcome, as it is best to learn all you can about Canaan Dogs before you make a average 14.5 year commitment. - Took puppies and Roxy to the vet on June 24, all were given a clean bill of health.
- June 23, 2004--The puppies and Roxy are all doing great. Posted individual pictures of all 5 puppies. Noelle and I named the puppies after Greek Gods. In order of their birth: Apollo, Athena, Anubis, Osiris, and Aries. It makes it a lot easier for us so we don't have to describe each one.
June 22, 2004--Roxy gave birth to five white with black patched puppies. Only one female. I'll be posting pictures as they grow.
- June 20, 2004--Well it is 2 days before Roxy's due date and she is fat and lazy, sleeping below my desk as I type. Though she was out running around the backyard earlier today, she is not showing any signs of impending delivery. So stay tuned, I will post info and pictures, as soon as possible after the puppies are born. Most likely within 24 hours of the birth.
